You decide....
“Wow! Times are really tough nowadays! Gas prices have increased, and a half gallon of orange juice is almost five dollars! In Boston, rent has increased, even for low-income families. People are unable to pay thousands of dollars each month for one/two bedroom apartments. As a result of the increased rent, more families are leaving Boston, many are homeless, and others are working really hard to “make ends meet”. As a citizen of Boston, you have been assigned to “fix” this situation. What are the first three steps you would take. Be sure to explain your steps in detail and give examples

The first three steps you is.
1. Stop buying extra things.
2. Always look at what you buy.
3.Make sure when you do buy something that you really need it.
You do these steps because you are trying to save money. If you save money you can have more money to pay for these things. The steps should be an everyday thing. Like instead of buying expensive pair of sneakers keep what you have or don't buy none that expensive. Another thing could be when you go food shopping. You may wanna wait for the thing you want when it goes on sale then stock up a lot on that thing.
The first three steps i would take is one: Getting a well paid job. I would get a well paid job to pay for the rent and i needed i would get to jobs. The second step that i would take is to go to city hall and file a complant. While filing a complant i might get a patition and motivate people to help. Final the third step would be to protest march if i have to till i get the right service that fits not only for me but for everybody.
The situation is hard to deal with because this not only happening in BOSTON but all over the world. For example in Boston gas is like around $3.89 $3.99 but like in Europe it's over $6.
The first thing i will do is sit down with the office of Boston and discuss the issue, and let them realize we have to do something quick or we won't have citizens.
The second thing i will do is see what is causing us to have to pay high money for things Then let it know to the citizens so that we can come up with something. We have to find the main door so it can lead us to the other.
The first step I'll take is writing a letter to the president asking him way is the gas prices so high and way are the rent on house/apartments going up so rapidly. You know some people can't pay thousands of dollars on rent. My second step will be getting a job with a good pay some I can help pay rent for my house and give gas money to person who is driving me where I need to go because without gas we aren't getting no where but where we started off at.
What I would do to fix the situation is I would try to cut down the prices just a little bit. I would try to get people to work hard a companies so that people could get a good pay check every week or every two weeks. I would try to have more shelters for those people that are homeless. I would try to find more oil, so that it's better for people that need gas for the cars. I would also want people to try to stand up for it instead of complaining or putting up with it. Like have no gas days so that gas stations wouldn't have any business. And try to but bus fares down also so instead of driving you ride a bus. And those things I think might, just as long as people particapate I think those things would help.
Three steps I'm going to take to help fix this problem are
1. The fist thing I'm going to do [or rather help with] is providing low income families with jobs to help them earn more money to pay rent or pay for anything they need for their home.
2. A second thing I'm going to help with is trying to provide poor families with their basic nacessities like food clothing and some times shelter.
3. The last thing I'm going to try to help with is trying to stop things that are destroying our community or our enviorment like violence, drug dealing, pollution, etc.
Dana,
I am pleased with your response. You addressed the "real" issue here. But, what would you need to do to find citizens jobs and homes?
Ms. J
Three steps i would use to help fix the "Rent Situation" are..
Step 1: Make A Meeting with the citizens of Boston and debate about the situation
Step2. (citizens)Save your money For important things you might need, either way if the problem is fixed or not.
Step 3. Protest about the situation if it wasn't successful the first time. what i mean by this is , if the meeting and the debate came to a agreement to keep the rent prices high , then this is another step to do. Hopefully these steps help alot.
The third thing i will do is make sure that Boston citizens learn how to spent there money then do what ever they want with there money. The fourth thing is to make sure that every Boston citizen of age will be able to work at jobs that fits them best so, jobs will be hiring.
The first three step I will take to help the community is to right a letter to the government of Boston to tell him what are my plan to help the community and if he could give use support and some help so we could help all of those people that are working 3 and 2 jobs to give some food to there family and children the other thing I will do is to bring every body from the community together and give them food and supply they need the other thing we could do is to protest for the gas amount because some people do not event got enough money to pay rent gas and cloth for them and there children and if we go to protest about the rent gas and food because if they see that we are mad and that we wanted a change they are going to do something to change the problem because if we do not talk or say nothing they are going to say people are not having problem or mad about this problem so less use keep doing it so that why people have to talk and say something so they will know that this is a big problem and that is affecting the people and family.
As citizen of Boston and being assigned to "fix" the first three steps would be:
1. I would try to talk to a couple of the companies to lower down their rent cost. Not as much because they still need to make money.
2. Then I would tell the citizens to get a job that suits the apartment or home they are paying for monthly.
3. Also then I will try to work things out with companies so their products wont cost as much so citizens can save money and be able to pay their rent.
The first three steps I would take to solving this problem is finding a way to make more money, decrease taxes, & Cut back on major city projects. Finding a way to make more money is important because the money would go to big corporations that would pay their employees more money in order for the citizens to pay their dues. With the right amount of pay, and up to date with the minimum wage, citizens should be able to pay for their apartments or credit card bill, or telephone bills, whatever is necessary to pay. Decreasing Taxes would help year-round, when tax time comes around and citizens have to add up how much they have to pay the government, maybe there should be a lower in percentage or the required amount. Then citizens might not have to put as much in to get out. If the government was to cut back on th spending they do to support certain building construction work and city-wide projects, we would have money and there would not be the need to spend on things that are not necessary. Half of these projects in Boston do not even get finished and that is money wasting. There would be more money for the citizens.
There are very few things that i can do to fix these situation. One thing i would do is to make sure that we are not wasting money only things we do not need. If we stop wasting careless money on things not need it we can but together a foundation do help the struggling citizens. Just like there is Red Cross there can be another one for citizens to get money.
This resent situation is minor set back of many that everybody has each year. Boston can not be perfect, but we can get better and develop into a more affordable living area.
Three step that i would choose to change the situation of rent is:
1.Take it to the government
2.Protest is another thing i would do.
3.Get the people motivated to make a change.
I would take this situation to the government because although they are able to pay high price rent so are not able to. Protesting is another way of making a change. We have the rights to protest in many ways. One way i was thinking of protesting is getting thousands of people to sign a patition. Getting people motivated to march or make a difference can help me because i won't only be 1 but more to make a change in this rent.
Ms.Geralda 8f
Step One: get the Govener involved in the situation because we elected him and chose him in the end to be our Govener he represents the citizens in Boston, and i feel that if we don't bring up the issues as residents living here then nothing will get noticed and be done expect the amount of money you pay for rent increase every month. The second step I would take is getting the media and as much press as possible to come take a look at what is going on in our community and see how our population is getting less and less every second of every day, I would get the press involved because some people might not be aware of whats going on when it comes to rent and how it has increased dramatically since the last year. The third step I would take in fixing the issue is seeing why rent in Boston is going up so high when where one out of maybe 5 of the richest states compared to every one else so why is it that rent is increasing every month or so, now that poses a question one way to fix the issue is by maybe building more homes and based on your income you would pay a certain amount of money.
so i would get them hip to the situation and then the third step I would do is have a Priteset
The first thing as a step I would do is have a meeting. In the meeting we would be talking about how it is hard for us to live here and with all of these conditions. The second step will probably be to debate on the subject. Then it will be our final decision and we will have to rule on our decision together. The third step I would do is take it up with the mayor to see how this works out
Ms. Jackson,
To help the people find jobs and homes is I would take them to places that provide them with work and housing and I would at least plead for the manager or landlord to help them out and if I have the money i would help them for the first month or two.
Way are the rent on houses/apartments going up so rapidly. You know some people can't pay thousands of dollars on rent. My First step will be getting a job with a good pay so I can pay rent for my house because I know I don't pay rent I'll be getting kicked out. The second step is asking my landlord way is the rent going up so rapidly because it don't make no since how the rent gone up so high when I am busting my butt to get money to pay for this stupid rent when all you can do is put the rent up more. You need to lower the rent or you are not going to have people in yours house to give you money than what are you going to do without us? you tell me.
For step 1 I think that some things that can change is the gas prices because if you really start to think about it the biggest thing that is eating up peoples money in the city of Boston is gas prices, and grocery's.
Step 2 I would start going to these organizations and start questioning and asking these people if they could lower down the gas prices and the groceries prices because now a days the rent money goes to the car,the groceries and ect. and its really hurting peoples pockets.
Step 3 I would step up by asking people to protest with me to make these prices right with everybody so that everybody can pay there rent on time and not get kicked out .
OH MY GOD! WHAT IS BOSTON COMING TO WHEN THEY KNOW THAT POOR PEOPLE AND LOW INCOME FAMILIES HAVE TO WORK SO HARD TRYING TO GET FOOD AND CLOTHES FOR THEIR FAMILY. TO ME THATS JUST UNGRATEFUL AND RUDE. THE 1T THING I WOULD DO IS...
STEP 1--> TRY TO HELP BUILD A SHELTER FOR [LOW INCOME] FAMILIES AND POOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE NO WHERE TO GO AND THAT ALSO CAN'T AFFORD 2 PAY RENT.
STEP 2--> HAVE A COMMUNITY MEETING AND STOP ALL THE VIOLENCE THATS GOING ON.
STEP 3--> PEOPLE THAT HAVE LOW INCOME MAKE THEM DO OVER TIME AT WORK SO THEY CAN PAY THERE RENT WHEN THE MONTH COMES.
The first thing I would do to fix the rent in Boston for the citizen .Is find a way for the citizen in Boston to get a rise from work, and may be to get the gas prices to go down just a little . That would make a very big different .......
The first three steps would be
1. Have a community meeting that have people that are struggling and are REALLY struggling to come together and try to see what's the main problems in our rent bill.
2.Have a fund raiser together so that it could support families. Even if it takes going around states to get some support.
3. Write a letter to the government. Trying to get them involved.
