"Race" and the world (8E)
Why do you think we, as a society, put so much emphasis on categorizing people by their "race"? Explain and give examples.
I think that we get caught up so much in thinking people of the other race is racist that we are selves become racist and we don't notice it. So we start to think that the race we are is better or more powerful than the other, or we begin to think that the other race is mentally or physically bringing us down.
I think it is because some people(races) feel either superior or inferior. People categorize others for some reasons. From my perspective, this is what I see in races.(power) Well not really. This is the population of people.
well i believe that we do this because i guess people want to be different. Some people like to be different from others and they do this by race. Its also a lot easier to classify people by their race. It also i guess bring almost a sort of order to everything.
I THINK BECAUSE PEOPLE THINK AS IF WE WOULD BACK IN THE DAY. FOR EX: WHEN I SEE REALLY LIGHT SKEINED PERSON I THINK THAT THEY ARE WHIT BUT I KNOW THAT THE CAN BE PR OR OR SOME THING
i think that race is man made and we been using race since 1800 and it really got in to peoples head badly they have to realeyes that one there will be no such thing as race
I believe that people try and do this for several different reason like dehumanizing to make people fell maybe less or so they can judge them by what the know of one like that person or even maybe to place them some where.
i think we as a society put so much emphasis on categorizing people by their race is. Some people believe that just because their skin isn't the same color as the person next to them they are different, every person is the same inside just because you are a different color on the outside doesn't mean anything, people may speak different languages or make look different in appearance but they are exactly the same as you their body works the way yours works. I think it's wrong that a whole bunch of people separate each other because they speak a different language, they are a different skin color, their eyes aren't the same as yours, they are handicapped there is a whole bunch of reasons for people not to like other people but i think people should learn to see past that to see what is really inside the person not the outside but as long as people are on earth there will e some kind of racism or some kind of stereo type.
I think we a society put so much emphasis on categorizing people by their race because we want to know what their race is so we can probably know if we are going to hang out with them or if they are going to make fun of them. i also think we are so eager to know the people's race because to put them in categories in either school or in work lets say in areas or something
when say it is i mean it is like a specific type of a place your from . you are put up like if your a number in something. it is just like if you see a teenager with a kid you automatically think i there kid
PEOPLE IN SOCIETY PUT SO MUCH EMPHASIS ON CATEGORIZING PEOPLE BY THERE RACE BECAUSE THAT IS THE MAIN THING PEOPLE SEE OF PEOPLE TODAY IS THERE OUTSIDE.
I think We emphasis on categorized people by their race because, I guess when we assume someone is a certain race is because by the way they look. Race is very important to people so we emphasis it. We put a lot of meaning into it. what I mean by this is it is something that stands out, well at least to me.
Race, I believe is mainly thought of as your country of descent. Most people grow up learning that your race is who you are. So pretty much, people base who they are on their race.Since The U.S is made up of so many different races,it kind of becomes important.

40% Black
30% White
20% Hispanic
10% Asian
Population can determine power of people.
I am not trying to make fun. I also see myself as an inferior race. There aren't many of us left.

I do think people put to much emphasis in categorizing people by there race. If people didn't put so much emphasis then we wouldn't have racism.

Jåhî,
I think that people do notice racism.
I think the reason why people categorize people because thats how some of us are raised and thats how we see our parents say so thats how we so it.
