Texas and Sagging Pants Campaign

What do you think about Texas' decision to get their citizens to stop wearing over-sized pants.
Things to think about:

1. Should the government be in charge of focusing on what people are wearing?
2. Do you think that their Music campaign will make a difference?

If the pants wearing really bothers the community than they have ever right, its the same difference, like playing your music before a certain time in lynn or spitting on the ground in newyork? Some people may not think it is bad. No one got mad when people in the 60s wore afros so what is the big idea?ITS JUST A TREND AMERICA GOES THROUGH ITS PHASES.

1.The government shouldn't be in charged of what people wear. People should have the freedom to wear what they want. The government should be in charged if the people are wearing gang clothes though. For example, Ku Klux Klan robes should be banned and the organization should be gone.

2.I don't think the music will make a difference. Unless (s)he is very popular and has control over their fans. Lets say my cousin starts wearing gangsta clothes. His mom will yell at him. But he won't stop wearing those clothes. People like us have the freedom to wear what we want.

I THINK THAT IT IS A GOOD THING THAT THEY ARE TRYING TO GET THERE CITIZENS TO STOP WEARING OVER-SIZED PANTS BECAUSE IT WILL BEGIN TO MAKE THERE CITY LOOK MORE TOGETHER AND PROFESSIONAL.

NO THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD NOT BE WORRIED ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE WEAR BUT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE UNDER THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD FOCUS ON THE LITTLE THINGS LIKE THAT.

DEPENDING ON WHAT ARTIST IS SAYING AND WHO IS REALLY FOLLOWING IT MAYBE IT COULD MAKE A CHANGE.

no because people should be able to wear what they want because it is not the biasness because that cant go around telling every one what to do and waht to where everyone wants to be diffrent so there for no they should not be focusing on what people where

I think that the government should NOT care or be in charge of they way that the guys dress.
also if they make message music i think is not going to make a difference because people like to dress in there own way and not try to change th way we dress.

I think that the Govn't shouldn't worry what people are waring as log as they aren,t bare bottom and there clothes aren't racist. I think the musical campaign isnt going to make any difference at all because as long as it is not a law people are going to continue to wear what they want to wear just because its Texas doesn't mean you have to wear a 10 gallon hat cow boy boots chaps no thats a stereo type even though some people do wear that down in Texas but every were people wear different kind of clothes and thats how its going to be.

The campaign will not make a difference if chamillionaire is supporting it because all rappers contribute to the "saggy pants". Listeners will get confused because the people who told them to dress like that are now saying not to.The artists would be sending mixed messages.

Anonymous said...

I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD GET INTO PEOPLES WAY OF DRESSING CHECKING OUT WHAT THEY WEARING AND HAT NOT THEY WEARING. NO I THINK THAT THE MUSIC IS NOT GOING TO HELP IT CAUSE THAT HOW THEY ARE AND NO OE IS GOING TO CHANGE THEM.

Anonymous said...

I don't think the Governer should focus on what we wear because it has nothing to do with anything.I think they should study more on violence in the enviorment. Also they shouldn't try to change the way we dress cause if saggin your pants isn't good then neither is wearing your pants all the way up.I don't think that protest music will make people pull there pants up because people grew up like that so there opinion wouldn't change over a song.

I think that people have the right to wear what they feel like wearing even if its over-sized they cant forced the young citizens to wear what the government wants The government should not be in charge on focusing on what people are wearing
because of all the bad things People do they are concerned on saggy pants that is just not right and again people should be able to wear whatever they want. I think their music campaign will not make a difference because even the music people wear saggy pants and they send out a lot of messages trough music and people still don't listen

1. Should the government be in charge of focusing on what people are wearing?i don't really agree because thats like saying everyone has to be the same it dosent make sense to me cause everyone is not the same

2. Do you think that their Music campaign will make a difference? not really unless it gets to the point that it involves the law ya dig?

What i think that trying to do is take away good fashion iit's good if people want to feel comfortable they should they can stop comfort I thin there really overdosing it big time because it's just pants i think there being unreasonable

In other words the government is strict. Whats wrong with alot of people wearing black clothes all in one spot? In South Shore mall, the rules say that no gang clothing or unsanitary clothes.

So shirts, no shoes, no service. Wheres the pants?

TEXAS AND SAGGING PANTS CAMPAIGN.

REALLY WHY SHOULD PEOPLE CARE WHAT THEY WEAR. THATS NON SENSE.WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WEAR AND IF PEOPLE DID THEN THEY HAVE NO LIFE.I CAN WALK DOWN THE STREET AND LOOK AROUND, I WOULD SEE SO MANY THING THAT IS WRONG WITH THE STYLE YOU LIKE. WELL I'M JUST SAYING THAT PEOPLE HAVE THERE OWN TASTE IN CLOTHING AND STUFF. ME I'D JUST WALK AND SAY THATS NOT APROVEABLE
NOT BAND PEOPLES TASTE IN WHAT THEY LIKE.

I DON'T THINK IT'S FAR. PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE A RIGHT TO WEAR WHAT THEY BY IN ANY WHY THEY CAN. I DON'T THINK THAT THE GOVERMENT SHOULD BE BRUNG INTO THE DEBAT BECAUSE IF SOME PEOPLE ANTI AGAINST SAGGY PANTS SOME WOULD START TO ARGUE JUST FOR SAGGY PANTS. I DON'T THINK MUSIC WOULD CHANGE THE WHY THEY THINK BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE HAVE STRONG OPPENOUNES.

Anonymous said...

I THINK THAT IS A STUPID IDEA WHY ARE THEY FOCUSING ON PEOPLES STYLE OF DRESSING. THE GOVERNOR SHOULDN'T FOCUS ON HOW THEY DRESS BECAUSE AT LEAST THEY ARE WEARING CLOTHES AND NOT RUNNING AROUND NAKED. EVERYONE HAS THEIR OWN DRESSING STYLE. NO MATTER WHAT THE KIDS ARE STILL GOING TO DRESS WITH BAGGY PANTS BECAUSE THATS THEIR STYLE AND THEIR MAKING THEM GIVE IT UP. YOU SEE GOTHIC KIDS DRESS ALL IN BLACK WHY DON'T THEY SAY YOU CANT DRESS ALL IN BLACK TO SCHOOL WITH BLACK MAKE UP ECT. UNLESS IS AN OCCASION. WHY ARE THEY FOCUSING SO MUCH ON BAGGY PANTS????

Anonymous said...

I think it's a bunch of wasted money because it's not like there doing it to be defyent they're doing it because they like the way it looks or because they like having there pants hanging low it's not like it's a bad thing I mean if more adults start doing it then they might stop doing it because it's what they want to do the be like authority.

Anonymous said...

I do not think this is a good decision for them to come up with. Yes, Boys in general do not need to wear pants past their waste and so baggy in some cases, but who are you to take away what they wear. I think it is their choice if they want to wear what they wear. The case doesn't
even talk about boy's wearing pants past their waist but it discuses the baggy fact. As long as they are wearing pants what should it matter. It is not like they are running up and down the streets half-naked swearing and yelling. I do not think any government should be in charge of deciding who get's to wear certain clothes. I could've sworn it was a free country.

In my perspective i don't think the government is in charge of changing what people want to wear.I can understand changing dress codes in school and work but for the whole community?I don't think its right.Everyone is different, has there different taste so why bother what people wear?

I'm gonna have to say its kinda in between.its also depending on the person who is writing it.It can also help with a petition as well i'm not sure tho. There can be many situations when it can come out successful or maybe not.

My response to this is a yes and a no because it's people's rights to have soggy/saggy pants. Cause what they want to, they buy there clothes and wear them, those people have every right but If a community wants to make a difference about something they want to be changed that's what they want, but i don't completely agree with it because why are they all of a sudden wanting people to stop wear soggy/saggy pants? why stop now?

Anonymous said...

Yes i do think that they should be charge because this is just a way of fashion. They should have the right to dress any way they want. Are towns people are not saying any thing about how other people dress. Some people don't enjoy other people dressed with high pants and there shit tucked in. But they don't here us complain about it. For the second question i really don't know.

I think that they should worry about other stuff rather then what people are wearing. It's true that they need to pull up there pants but focusing on it like that just makes it seem like you have nothing better to do. What about the music you made. Do they think that the boys are really going to listen to it. I mean if they want to look like trash let them, that's just saying that they don't have respect for themselves and they don't have any dignity. If they don't want to present themselves like real man then that's there problem. Bu I think it's not cute for them to be showing there behind, but what do I know?

Anonymous said...

Tania, I think it is a good point you made about the gothics, because that is true

Anonymous said...

I really did not like these because they could not tell people what to wear or what not to wear for example if some body come up to then and tell them you should not wear these because I DO NOT LIKE will they not feel bad and they were start talking and telling them why are you telling me what to wear if you see people have different send of still and they put on what kind of cloth they like and I know that will not feel right that some one come on tell you what to put on or to wear because they are saying you do not know how to drees that what I think they are saying.

Anonymous said...

I Believe that we should have the right as a citizen to wear what we want. Thats just like saying that you can not wear suits. You can not take something away from someone just because a few people messed up. So If People started to wear baggy suit are they going to bad that too.

Anonymous said...

I think that the case is interesting. I think that they shouldn't wear over sized pants to. Should the government be in charge of focusing on what people are wearing yes i think so. If you really look at it you would've never known about baggy pants in the first place. If the person who did it first could've been from a different state. We might be one nation under god but as people of Massachusetts we are an individual. Yes i do think that the music campaign will make a difference because if you have the 5 habits of mind in your music you probably will achieve.

1.I would understand if people were walking around completely naked but come on. There saggy pants for calling out loud not world war 3. If it is a slow news week I understand but come on you do not have to go as so far as to make some unreasonable law. As far as I'm concern in the situation the government should have nothing to do with it.
2.Tell you the truth no the government does not truly care they are only worried about what makes them happy. So if that means to make up what I think is a totally unfair rule so be it. The government only cares about what I believe in the government. But the government doesn't care for all they know I'm just a eight grade girl with no power and voice.

First i'll like to say i think this is really rediculous. i mean like you can't change there thoughts on how they like to where there clothes. I say if they payed for there clothes why can't they use it the way they want to. " It's there money!" I mean like you don't see the u.s saying that mens cant wear women clothes and ect.,but it doesnt look right. but like if people got there rights in some areas why cant they have agaisnt saggy pants thats like something most male teens go threw they just want to be part of the new trend. you dont see the u.s doing anything about things that are really important. then try to raise taxes to people that may not even agree with the campaign.

1. I don't think that it's right if other people have a problem with what other people are wearing. I think that we should be able to wear any thing we want with out people saying something.

2. I don't think that protest music will change any thing because people are used to dress like that so I don't think it will make a difference.

Anonymous said...

I THINK IT IS STUPID THAT THEY SAY THAT AND THEY ARE BRINGING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL I THINK THEY DONOT GOT THE RIGHTS TO TELL PEOPLE WHAT SIZE PANTS CAN THEY WEAR THAT JUST.

1.NO THE GOVERNMENT SHOULDN'T BE IN CHARGE FOR PEOPLE CLOTHES THEY SHOULD BE FOCUSED ON THE WAR AND ALOT MORE.

2. NO IT WONT CHANGE NOTHING.

Anonymous said...

Whoa Whoa Whoa hold up why should the government worry about what people wear. We surely don't worry about what he wear. Its the peoples choice on what they want to wear its how they want to feel in there clothes && how the way they want to look when they go on the streets.

Anonymous said...

I think the government should leave the citizens to wear what ever the want. I am not done yet.

Anonymous said...

My perspective on the issue is that they should be thinking about the war and things like that not what young kids are wearing.I would say that a music campaign will maybe make a difference because a lot of people now is saying that the young kids know is causing the problem.

I think that this is a waste of time and that Dallas Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway shouldn't be worrying about how someones pants look like he should be trying to solve crimes and if they really wanted to worry about something worry about the crime rates, worry about the sweatshops, worry about YOUR CITIZENS getting an EDUCATION, worry about the Families such as the mother's working two jobs just to put food in the table because her first job is paying maybe $6.50an hour and she has to feed four kids pay bills and worry about putting clothes on there backs and giving them a place worry about that. i think that as citizens and Immgrants be comming citizens they should have a right to wear there clothes how ever the feel like wearing. its bad enough police not solving crimes but to fine people and put people in jail for clothing it's dumb because instead of putting crimals away they are putting teens away because of who they wear their pants... to be contiued....

Anonymous said...

The government should be in charge of focusing on what people are wearing because it is their job to make sure people stay safe. I say that because if little girls/boys are walking around like that anything can happen to them.

I don't think it will make a difference because you are still going to see people wearing their pant down.
