I think the protest song is protesting the fact that someone took all that was beautiful and paved it. I think that in one part of the song she mentioned how they took the beautiful things and now a charing people to see them. The lyrics that stood put to me were:

"Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big yellow taxi
Took away my old man
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you’ve got
‘Til it’s gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot"

This stood out to me because it reminds me of a draft. This reminds me of all the wrong that is happening. I think about the war and men fighting battles that aren't their's. I think yes, this would be a very affective song. After i read it i thought about the unjust in the war. People would take this into consideration because they would realize that the artists is right.

The issue this song is protesting is that there talking mother nature and how everybody seems to take things away but they only realize they need it when it's gone. I think that it's basically telling people to think before they act. There was a part tat stand out to me in the song it was,"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot," this stands out to me because it makes you think, like wow people really is ruing nature. It the people takes the time to listen to the music and actually pay attention to what the artist is talking about then it might get to them. I also like the part were it mentions that there costing people to see mother nature. They should take action.

At first i didn't get this but now i know it's talking about the environment. The part that says "That you know what you got, Til' it's gone". This part stand out to me because it's true without mother nature we wouldn't have trees or flowers. Without them we don't have oxygen or carbon dioxide so it's very important to have that. The poem gave an effective message because mother nature is free for everyone to see we don't have to pay and they are charging. At first the song would be confusing if you listen to her. But if you listen to it more than twice people will get the message.

I read the song and I think it was very different from all the song I have read because it was protesting about why they cut out trees a very nice paradise to put a parking lot so what I think they are talking about is the enviorvemt and they cut out trees and charge people to see them for a thing you could see for free in the street but you could not see them anymore because they are cut every single one of them. They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to seem 'em. That really stand out for me because it means they are cut so many tree that you could not even see not event one in the street so they take the tree to a museum so people could see them. I think poem like these could change some people but not all of them because they still kip killing the world.

I believe that Joni Mitchell was protesting how people of the big cooperations kill the environment and tear down trees and destroy the community by doing such things.
The whole third verse stands out to me "they took all trees and put them in a tree museum and they charged the people a dollar and a half just to see 'em." That is so true we see things that people get charged to see, things we should be able to see in our neighborhood everyday when we walk down the street but no instead we see vacant lots and drug stores.Yes I pretty sure that people walk down the street and wonder what was there before this store was up. And I now that if people really are passionate about saving the environment then they will listen to this song and take a stand and take some action to stop cruelty against trees. Stop the big cooperations from killing our earth save the environment.

There is one main issue in this protest song and that is the environment. The way they cut down trees. For example the way they cut trees the next minute they want to charge you to see it. To me thats wrong. I do think that they (the people) would listen because it's strong and basiclly true. They kind of listen because if i read these lyrics and thought of it.

I think this artist is trying to say is when something from the nature is taken away; that's when you notice that it's important and its free when it's out in the nature but when it's not you have to pay to see then or get one if needed. The lyrics that stand out to me the most is they took all the trees and put them in museums because its not fair to cut down trees and make or do other tings away . Children need trees to survive in with the air and people with asthma. I do think this message is effective because it says something that is true and means something and it shows how someone cares about our environment and how it looks from a point of view.

The song is protesting about the environment. Also about how they are cutting down trees and putting them in museum for trees. She is saying that they paved paradise and put up a parking lot.

No I don't think that this message is effected because I agree with her that they need to stop cutting down trees and putting up houses and stores and parking lots. If don't have trees there will be no oxygen on the earth for us to live our lives.

I think in the reader's perspective they can be confused.Like me i was kind of confused of the poem since at the middle they was talking about the yellow taxi. I think its protesting about how they dont care about nature. Nothing really did stand Out to me except how they against nature. I think its in between , it can be affective then again not depending on the people that are protesting.

The issue that this song is protesting about is the environment and how everybody takes things from the environment that doesn't make it an environment. The part that stood out to me is when she is talking about how they took down the trees and put them in the tree museum i like that about the things.

This song is protesting against the environment because he says they paved paradise. He's telling people that we are being cheated for things that are already free. I like the ending lyrics of the song They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot. I think that this message is effective. I didn't hear the song but the lyrics singed for me. I mean the lyrics where powerful. I think a lot of people would listen to his song. Maybe it would actually change someone's opinion of things and point of view

THE Issue the song is protesting is people taking things away and people leaving like going some where. the lyrics that standed out to me the most where Joni Mitchell said They took all the trees
And put them in a tree museum
And they charged the people
A dollar and a half just to seem 'em to me it made me laugh in a way because people pay all this money to go see trees that they believe where ship all the was from Africa knowing very well them trees can from their next door neighbor's back yard. Another set of lyrics that standed out to me was Hey farmer, farmer
Put away that DDT now
Give me spots on my apples
But LEAVE me the birds and the bees
Please! that brought me back to the whole Japanese vs America because it's like they {the farmers} was just taking away their stuff. I think this massage is affective because for once it's talking about what "THE POWERFUL PEOPLE" with money are doing that is WRONG?!!!!! i think if people really takes the time to listen to the song, then they can get on "THE POWERFUL PEOPLE'S" case.
